How We Started

Additional Information

There is an old saying, “Out of something bad,  make something good.”  In this instance it would be, “Try to make  something good come out of the most devastating thing a mother can  experience.”

Debi Nadler’s  28-year-old son, Brett, died of a drug overdose in May 2018.  She had  been active in the online Grieving Mom Community, working to end the  stigma against substance use.  She reached out to a fellow mom, when she  realized that their sons had been in the same rehab.  They bonded over  their similar experiences and losses, and decided they wanted to work  together to address the drug epidemic. The  moms formed an organization  called “Moms Against Drugs” with the goals of promoting substance use  awareness, primary prevention and providing  resources and support to  other grieving families.
Debi had a further vision of uniting all affected family members to hold  walks and campaigns  in every state.  Hence, Drug Epidemic  AwarenessWalk Across America was born.

Now our group is empowered by amazing moms across the country.
Each mom has not only coordinated campaigns/walks/events in their states but each has their own mission/non-profit as well.

TOGETHER WE ARE UNITED. We do not want any other parent to walk in our shoes.
